How to Apply for the UK Graduate Visa (Post-Study Work) — Requirements & Document Checklist 2026

The Graduate visa, also known as the Post-Study Work (PSW) route, lets you stay in the UK for two years after finishing your degree — three years for PhD graduates. There is no sponsor, no salary threshold, and no job offer needed. This guide covers who qualifies, how to apply, exactly which documents UKVI requires, and what happens after your Graduate visa expires.

Planning to stay in the UK after your Graduate visa? You can switch to a Skilled Worker visa without leaving.

Apply before your Student visa expires

You must apply from inside the UK before your current Student visa (or permission to stay) expires.
